M/S Skarsfos

M/S Skarsfos was built at Fevig Ironworks in 1908, transported in parts to Tinnsjøen in Telemark. Here it was reconstructed and launched. Since then it has been in service for Norsk Hydro until 1983 under the local nickname “Den Sorte Sliter” (The Black Workhorse).

Asbjørn Lia from Skien took over the boat in 1990. It was then without a roof and in very poor condition. It has taken Asbjørn Lia 11 years to completely restore the boat. Now M/S Skarsfos has become a very good addition to the fleet of canal boats that serve The Telemark Canal and the fairway from Skien towards Porsgrunn, Brevik, Langesund and Jomfuland.
